In 1983, Dr. Biantoro Wanandi came back from Geneva/Switzerland to Indonesia after
completing his duty as the head of WHO Division Drug Action Program (DAP) in Geneva.
He had a vision to establish a leading company in pharmaceutical distribution services
and a mission to participate and contribute towards building better accessibilities
for drugs in the whole country. The vision later materialize in 1985 as PT Anugerah

distributing products from Combiphar and Sandoz Biochemie in Jakarta. Later on APL
established more branches, e.g. in Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang and Medan to expand
its operation. In 1987, APL got an opportunity to distribute products from Glaxo
and expand its infrastructure by opening five new branches.
In 1990, two new Principals came to APL New Interbat and Schering Plough they trusted
their business to APL and APL annual sales reached above 100 billion rupiah. To
expand its portfolio, in 1991 APL set-up a Medical Devices and Diagnostic Division
that is responsible to distribute medical and diagnostics products. Later on in

branch infrastructures with modern warehouse system in 1996. APL then acquired PT
Tigaka Distrindo Perkasa (TDP) in 1997. TDP is a consumer products distribution
company. To improve its delivery service level and efficiency, APL set-up a Distribution
Center Warehouse in Gresik and in Medan to handle distribution in eastern part and
in the western part of Indonesia.
In 1998, the Sales had reached 600 billion rupiahs supported by 24 branches and
20 sales stations all over Indonesia. The number of Principals had also grown to

software company in the world. A new logo was introduced during this year with a
new spirit to be a leading distributor in Indonesia.

The merger of OTC and Consumer to set the Consumer Health Products Division (CHPD)
had given a new pattern in APL journey as a nationwide distributor that also reflected
the spirit to always be responsive to market dynamics. In the year 2000, with more
than 1600 employees all over Indonesia, APL had succeeded to position itself as
one of the leading distribution companies among its customers as shown by the rapid
sales increase that grow above average pharmaceutical market. In 2001, with consistent

level and professionalism to respond to the needs of the customers. During this
year, APL had covered all kinds of outlets, such as pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories,
drug stores, wholesalers, supermarkets, mini markets, beauty shop up to general
store and many other kinds of customers. In the beginning of 3rd millennium, APL
launched a new vision and mission and committed to maintain the success and good

business further in the future. This year also marked with the new distributorship
