APL Strives to Make Healthcare More Accessible Amid COVID-19

Indonesia has entered a "new normal", adapting to new habits to revive its sinking economy. Under this policy, people can return to work while shops and malls start to re-open with health precautions.

However, the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the country, causing deep concern. Most industries across Indonesia need to adapt to this situation in order to survive. Companies engaged in health services are expected to contribute to keep people healthy according to their respective roles, functions and expertise.

PT Anugerah Pharmindo Lestari (APL), one of the largest healthcare services companies in Indonesia, continues to demonstrate our commitment to carrying out the mission to bring essential healthcare to local communities during this challenging time.

Innovating in Uncertain Times

APL has prioritised innovation in its daily operations to ensure minimal disruption, in order to continue serving patients in Indonesia. For example, the company accelerated the launch of several digital platforms such as eZRx, an interactive engagement portal for customers to place orders for prescription drugs, medical devices or consumer health products anytime, anywhere.

Through eZRx, APL can also send direct messages related to COVID-19 to more than 60,000 customers across Indonesia.

Apart from eZRx, APL also developed ZIP Insider, which enables the users to get data and analyse the product needs in the market. The platform can be accessed by our clients, who are mostly pharmaceutical companies.

Strategic Engagement

During these difficult times, it is important to maintain employees' productivity and morale and APL has ensured open communication internally. APL continues to put safety as a top priority as its employees play a crucial role in the business. APL focuses on employee safety and prioritises the importance of spending time with their families, mentally and physically.

In addition, APL takes an active role in building communication with external parties that support its operational activities. APL actively conducts strategic communications with key government stakeholders tasked with handling COVID-19. We also developed an integrated communications model with its business partners to ensure the smooth delivery of essential medical products needed by patients.

In entering the new normal, APL prepared several health processes and protocols in line with local government guidelines and our parent company, Zuellig Pharma.

APL also prepared the infrastructure carefully, limiting physical contact among team members and business partners, to ensure that the stored products to be distributed to customers remain of high quality.

Steps that APL has taken regarding our business focus as well as sustainable business practice has received world-class appreciation from HR Asia, a leading regional publication that awards companies with high levels of employee engagement and workplace cultures.

APL's internal programmes and a clear strategy have led the company to win 'The Best Company to Work for 2020' award, outperforming 290 other reputable organisations.

"This award is a great honour particularly during these challenging times. It has boosted the motivation of all our APL team members and business partners that have continued to support us. We will always uphold our commitment to make healthcare more accessible for patients in Indonesia", said APL President Director Christophe Piganiol at the award presentation ceremony, held virtually at the APL head office on August 25, 2020.
